HAR TEAM ACHIEVES 2 MEDALS IN GOLDEN CLIMATE 2016 KENYA
HAR Team returns home with a bronze medal from Kenya Golden Climate International Environment Project Olympiad (GCIEPO)
The team consisted of two secondary students, Isaac Kanamugire and Patrick Ejiofor, and their supervisor, Mr. Serkan Isik. Their project title was ‘Umuravumba and its uses’. The umuravumba is a herb that is commonly used in African countries including Rwanda and others. In many villages in Rwanda, people grow Iboza Riparia in their gardens to cure different diseases for humans and animals.
GCIEPO promotes a global understanding of environmental issues and the achievement of sustainability through basic science, engineering, and management. It is the biggest and the only of its kind in East and Central Africa and has attracted the participation or over 30 countries since the year 2011 when it was introduced. GCIEPO is organized in collaboration with various like-minded partners in the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Energy of Kenya, among other companies.
This year at GCIEPO, there was projects from 27 countries, total 151 projects.
